environmentalA Better Solution for the environment.

Powder Coating:
  • Powder coatings are solvent-free
  • No hazardous waste according to ‘Resources Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
  • Overspray may be reclaimed
Liquid Coating:
  • Most liquid coatings contain solvents
  • Liquid coatings evaporate VOC’s during cure process
  • Overspray needs to be handled as hazardous waste

As already mentioned earlier, powder coating is also highly protective of our environment. While liquid finishes contain solvents which have pollutants known as volatile organic compounds or VOCs, powder coating contains no solvents and releases only negligible amounts, of VOCs into the atmosphere. Elimination of VOCs and reduction of wastes saves money and helps companies comply more easily and economically with the regulations of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. In fact, one of the major elements for the growth of the powder coating market has been the implementation of stringent air pollution control legislation over the past 30 years. Thus, there is no longer a need for finishers to buy costly pollution control equipment when using powder coatings.

In addition, most powder coating overspray that does not adhere to the part can be retrieved and reused, virtually eliminating the waste commonly found in liquid finishing processes.

Most liquid coatings contain solvents and evaporate VOC’s during the cure process.

Overspray needs to be handled as hazardous waste and disposal is fairly costly.

Powder Coating vs. Liquid Coating
  • Economy
  • Efficiency
  • Energy Savings
  • Environmental Responsibility
  • Excellence of Finish

As you will see throughout the rest of this presentation powder coatings are more economically viable than liquid coating systems.

In fact it is one of the least expensive finishing methods available.

While material and equipment cost are similar to liquid systems, savings are achieved in energy, labor and waste disposal. And of course, proper application will result in an excellent finish.

Just as liquid coating, powder coatings can be used for:
Handrails / Guardrails, Exterior Facades, Site furnishings, Playground Equipment, Lighting FixturesCeiling Panels and much more
